If you want breakfast on Troup Highway before 7 a.m. this November, you'll find it at the Green Acres end, between 1849 and 1879 Troup. Smoothie King, Fuzzy's Taco Shop and the Tyler Farmers Market all open by 7 a.m. within about thirty street numbers of each other, and a new Great Harvest bakery was scheduled to join them Oct. 30. The corner at Troup and Loop 323 used to be the stretch's sit-down breakfast stop. It's still waiting on a replacement.
The 3300 block lost its morning table
Corner Bakery Cafe closed on Dec. 28, 2025, when its owners decided to retire, as the Tyler Morning Telegraph reported. According to KETK, it had been at Troup Highway and Loop 323 since 2011. That's about fourteen years of morning coffee and pastries at one of the busiest corners on this side of town.
Roma Italian Kitchen closed in that same Business Beat roundup. It had spent five years at 3320 Troup Highway, Suite 170. So the 3300 block lost a breakfast spot and a dinner spot in the same season.
You can still get lunch at that end. Potpourri House at 3320 Troup Highway, Suite 300, serves lunch from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Saturday, and is closed Sunday. Visit Tyler lists Noodles & Dumplings next door at 3300 Troup Highway, and its online ordering page set pickup to start Oct. 29 at 11 a.m. Neither place opens before mid-morning, and that's the hole Corner Bakery left behind.
Green Acres took over the early hours
Meanwhile, a few blocks closer to town, the Green Acres stretch now holds the morning. Here's the 1800 block by the time each door opens on a weekday:
- 6 a.m. at 1849 Troup Highway. Smoothie King opens at 6 a.m. Monday through Friday and serves breakfast and lunch food along with its smoothies. It opens at 8 a.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. Sunday.
- 6 a.m. at 1879 Troup Highway. Great Harvest Bread Company's second Tyler bakery, inside Green Acres Shopping Center, was scheduled to open to the public Oct. 30. Its posted hours are 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on weekends, according to KNUE.
- 7 a.m. at 1851 Troup Highway, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. This is the Tyler Farmers Market's new home. More on its schedule below.
- 7 a.m. at 1871 Troup Highway. Fuzzy's Taco Shop serves breakfast tacos and burritos every day. It opens at 7 a.m. Monday through Saturday and 8:30 a.m. on Sunday.
Great Harvest matters most to this shift. Tyler already had one at 6621 South Broadway, so until now, south Tyler was the only place to buy its bread. KNUE spoke with owner Laura Levens, who was excited about the new shop and said new team members would start training ahead of opening. The bakery's own Tyler page only says the Green Acres location is coming in fall 2026, so a quick look at that page before your first visit is a good idea. With breakfast sandwiches and lunch on the menu, it covers much of the same ground Corner Bakery used to.
The farmers market makes Green Acres a Saturday stop
The bakery is the newest arrival, but the bigger reason to park at Green Acres is the market. The Tyler Farmers Market dates back to 1983. It has moved from its longtime spot near Broadway Square Mall to Green Acres Shopping Village at 1851 Troup Highway, according to the Tyler Morning Telegraph's Sept. 22 Business Beat. The market's own site now tells shoppers to "Come See Us Under the Big Tent" at the Troup Highway address.
Pin down the schedule before you load the cooler. The Telegraph reported the market running from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays "through the fall." The market's location page still shows 7 a.m. to 2 p.m., along with a closing day of Aug. 29 left over from the Broadway Square season. On a November Saturday, check the market's page or social accounts for that week's dates and hours before you go.
When the market is running, a Saturday at Green Acres can go from early morning into the evening. You can get there for the 7 a.m. opening, pick up a loaf or a breakfast sandwich from Great Harvest a few doors down once it's open, and grab tacos at Fuzzy's on the way out. Later in the day, Electric Circus Arcade has classic retro games and pinball machines at the same shopping village. It opens at 11 a.m. on Saturdays and 1 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and Sunday, stays open until midnight, and is closed Mondays. Plan family visits for earlier in the day, since the arcade is 18 and older after 9 p.m. every day.
Roost decides whether the 3300 block gets breakfast back
The old Corner Bakery space won't stay empty. Roost Chicken Salad & Deli is opening its second Tyler restaurant there, at 3306 Troup Highway. Its menu includes house-made chicken salads, deli sandwiches, Southern-inspired salads, grab-and-go items and breakfast. If Roost opens early enough in the day to serve breakfast, the 3300 block gets a morning stop again.
For Roost, this is a return to Troup Highway. Its first Tyler restaurant was on Troup before the company opened on South Broadway Avenue. According to KETK, the Broadway location opened in summer 2025. Conner Cupit, managing partner and CEO of Greenbriar Partners, the Texas-based company behind Roost, told the Tyler Morning Telegraph:
"Opening a second location near our original Tyler home feels especially meaningful."
Greenbriar also runs The Coast Southern Seafood Kitchen, and Roost already has restaurants in Athens and Longview.
There's no opening date yet. In August, the Telegraph reported a fall 2026 opening, with the official date to be announced closer to the debut. KETK reported construction underway, with an opening expected "near the end of 2026." As of late October, Roost's Troup Highway page says "coming soon" and lists no hours. Until it opens, the earliest breakfast on this stretch is at Green Acres.
A sit-down bakery breakfast across town has six weeks left
The same kind of change is happening on the south side of Tyler. La Madeleine will close its Tyler location in Towne Oaks Plaza on Loop 323 on Dec. 12 after deciding not to renew its lease, the Tyler Morning Telegraph reported Oct. 7. Until then it's running reduced hours, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.
Once it closes, Loop 323 will have lost Corner Bakery and La Madeleine less than a year apart. On Troup Highway, the replacements are a new Great Harvest, a deli going into the old bakery space, and a farmers market under a tent. If La Madeleine has been your weekend spot, its last day is Saturday, Dec. 12.
Getting in and out of Green Acres
Right now there's no lane closure or active work zone on Troup Highway to plan around. The City of Tyler's traffic signal retiming project includes Troup Highway. The city's ITS project page, last updated Oct. 16, says timing changes have been made and more adjustments are being considered at Troup Highway and Shiloh. If the light there has felt different lately, that's probably why.
Bigger changes come later. A City of Tyler and TxDOT safety package for SH 110 calls for a raised median, access management, lighting and signal upgrades from north of Aberdeen Drive to County Road 2123, KLTV reported. Construction is expected to begin in 2028. For the next couple of years, you'll get into and out of the Green Acres lots the same way you do today.
